Here is the person with the most welcoming face: Chip Conley. One can easily predict he is in the hospitality business. What a right choice! I read and listened to a lot from psychologists, self-development gurus, and leadership thinkers but none made as huge impact as Chip did on me. I believe what differentiates him is his personal journey dominated by struggles and achievements both in life and business, which makes his sayings more reliable, valuable, and substantial. His leadership theories and behavioral models are also enriched and backed by academic knowledge. Most of all, his human side, sincere and friendly approach bond us together!
Chip Conley is the founder of Joie de Vivre, California’s largest independent hotel company and America’s second largest boutique hotelier. His hotels received many awards including best customer service and best place to work, which brought him the Most Innovative CEO award, as well. He is also a respected leader in the business community, a philanthropist, a distinguished speaker, an interviewer, a bestselling author, and a traveler. He holds BA and MBA degrees, both from Stanford University. Also, he has an Honorary Doctorate in Psychology from Saybrook University, where he is the 2012/2013 scholar-practitioner in residence.
